Xbox 360 swings high over HD DVD business

Why is that more and more is being focussed to the Xbox 360 business while the HD DVD segment is slowly losing its ground? That's more on the minds of the users and the retailers understand what's in the mood of this section of users and hence are shifting their gaming business accordingly. The trend is clearly visible with Microsoft announcing its plan to discontinue the development of HD DVD players for its Xbox 360 video game system. The company is rather considering Sony's Blu-ray format over the HD DVD. Earlier Warner Bros. Entertainment had announced of its plan to quit with their HD DVD business. Seems like the Xbox inferno has completely pulled over the whole of gaming gene.

Dell comes out with new design for its notebooks

Dell has taken a new turn in the design of its notebook family. Its notebooks have not been so demanding due to its poor design quality with the exception of few very expensive workstations. The XPS M1530 may change this with a genuinely attractive design and performance normally passed over by most Windows PC manufacturers. Hope the new design match up with the performance of what lies inside. With this Dell has come a long way since the days of its more generic notebooks -- albeit with a few clear flaws that some users may want to avoid.

A Single Computer To Run The Entire Internet

Running the entire internet using a single computer may not be an unfathomable task now if the ongoing project by IBM bear fruits of success! Kittyhawk is the project name which IBM has launched with an aim to develop such a supercomputer that would have the power of running and executing the whole of internet process. IBM makes a very strong point in this proposal by saying that this could be realised because the design is not unproven technology. IBM's Blue Gene architectures own 4 of the top 10 spots of the list of fastest supercomputers on the planet, including the top spot, which is occupied by IBM's Blue Gene/L. IBM's Blue Gene/L architecture is the successor to its P architecture. The Kittyhawk project, initially designed with the Blue Gene/P architecture, will likely make the eventual switch to the more powerful and efficient "L" architecture. It is estimated that this proposed supercomputer system would be requiring about 67.1 million cores with 32PB of memory. That's massive task for any project undertaking but no task is impossible. We'll wait and see.

EPA Official Shuns Automotive Horsepower Wars

Just a few years ago, 405 HP was seen as an enormous amount of power for a passenger car. That was the heady tally for Chevy's Corvette Z06. A scant eight years later, Dodge and Chevy are dancing around the 600 HP mark with their '08 Dodge Viper and '09 Chevy Corvette ZR-1 respectively. If 600 HP isn’t enough for you, there’s always the ultra-exotic Bugatti Veyron which produces an astonishing 1001 HP.
Despite the fact that vehicles like the Veyron, Viper and Corvette ZR-1 make up an insignificant portion of the millions of the vehicles sold each year, a top-ranking official for the Environment protection Agency(EPA) wants manufacturers to put an end to the horsepower wars. Instead of funneling money towards the development of vehicles that have the most chest-thumping horsepower and torque, the official suggests that manufacturers look at the opposite end of the spectrum and produce the most ultra-efficient, lowest-polluting vehicles on the planet.
