IBM develops High bandwidth technology

IBM has developed a new bandwidth technology called "Green Optical Link" that is set to transform the way data is received and transmitted. The new technology combines optical chips and data buses into a single arrangement. According to IBM the new technology will have the theoretical capacity to deliver 8Tb of data at a time. More importantly, the power needed to achieve this is just 100 watts which is many times less than what is needed to for an equivalent electrical data connection.

The major advantage of this technology will be the easy and fast handling of HD content by web servers besides being environment friendly.
